The supporter was at a pro-Trump rally at a retirement village in Florida with a group of other people.

The video showed supporters and opponents of the president shouting and swearing at one another.

At one moment in the video you can see a Trump supporter in a golf cart shouting “white power”. It seems he was responding to a protester calling him a racist.

A spokesman for Mr Trump says he did not hear the “white power” comment.

Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the US Senate, said in an interview with CNN on Sunday that the video was “offensive” and asked the president to remove his tweet.

“Of course he should not have retweeted it and he should just take it down”, Mr Scott said.

People have accused President Trump of posting racist content online before. In 2017 for example, he retweeted three provocative videos from a British far-right group.

After the protests began in the US over the death of George Floyd, Trump tweeted, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts”.

Twitter added a warning to the Tweet because they said it broke their rules.

Mr Trump has been accused of racism because he has described the coronavirus as “kung-flu”. The White House has said they do not think this is racist.

A poll for CBS News shows a majority of the US public agrees with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Six in 10 Americans disapprove of the way President Trump’s has handled the protests, according to the poll. More than half say he has not shown enough understanding for the demonstrators.
